1. Product description

Cold-seal coatings that bond only to themselves and do so under pressure alone, with no heat applied, so the pack closes as the jaws close. They suit heat-sensitive formats such as confectionery and bar wrapping and allow faster lines with no heating or cooling stage in the seal.

2. Features

  • Cohesive seal under pressure only, with no heat applied
  • Applied in register to the areas that form the seal
  • Run against a release lacquer on the opposite face so the reel unwinds cleanly
  • Seal performance depends on reel tension, storage temperature and time from coating to use
  • Food-contact suitability is not claimed and is established separately for the finished structure

3. Recommended uses

Confectionery and bar wrapping and other heat-sensitive flow-wrap formats, run on lines where a heating and cooling stage in the seal would limit speed.

Typical values, not a specification. Values for each batch are given on its Certificate of Analysis.

5. Application

ParameterGuidance
Application methodGravure cylinder in register, preferably on a separate coater
Surface preparationSeal areas clean and dry; the opposite face carries a matched release lacquer such as Arcrelease RL
Handling of the liquidSupplied ready for use; stir gently and use low-shear circulation
Applied dry coat weight3 to 6 g/m2 in the seal areas
DryingDryer air typically 50 to 80 degrees Celsius, limited by the heat tolerance of the substrate, set so the coating is fully dry and the web is cooled before rewind
Reel handlingControlled wind tension, conditioned storage and the time from coating to use agreed with Arctic

6. Storage and handling

Store in the original containers, kept closed, in a cool, covered area away from direct sunlight and sources of heat, within the temperature range given on the label, and protect from frost. Shelf life is stated on the label and on the Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.

7. Safety and regulatory information

Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.

This Technical Data Sheet is published for on-screen reference. The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
