1. Product description
Repositionable coatings that hold a low, stable tack so a label, flap or coupon can be applied, lifted and placed again without leaving residue, picking fibre from uncoated board or lifting ink from a printed panel.
2. Features
- Low, stable tack for repeated application and removal
- No residue, fibre pick or ink lift on removal
- Tack held inside the working window through storage rather than building towards a permanent bond
- Coat uniformity and ageing checked on the actual face and receiving surfaces
3. Recommended uses
Promotional flaps, temporary labels, coupons and information panels carried on the outside of a pack.
4. Typical properties
| Property | Typical value | Method |
|---|---|---|
| Technology | Low-tack pressure-sensitive coating, water-based or solvent-borne | Formulation |
| Appearance | Milky to clear liquid, drying to a clear, tacky film | visual |
| Carrier | Organic solvent blend or water, stated for the grade supplied and matched to the ink system | formulation |
| Non-volatile content | 30 to 60 per cent by weight | ISO 3251 |
| Peel adhesion, initial | Low; confirmed on the actual face and receiving surfaces, not published as a single catalogue value | FINAT FTM 1 |
| Peel adhesion after dwell and ageing | Stays within the agreed working window without building towards a permanent bond | FINAT FTM 1 after ageing on the receiving surface |
| Loop tack | Agreed per application | FINAT FTM 9 |
| Clean removal | No residue, fibre pick or ink lift after repeated application and removal | customer or supplier protocol |
Typical values, not a specification. Values for each batch are given on its Certificate of Analysis.
5. Application
| Parameter | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Application method | Flexo or gravure station for pattern coating, or a separate coater |
| Surface preparation | Clean, dry face stock; the receiving surface is identified before the grade is set |
| Dilution | Supplied ready for use; reduce only with the diluent specified by Arctic and confirm against a measured coat weight |
| Applied dry coat weight | 4 to 10 g/m2, set against the tack required |
| Drying | Dryer air temperature, air volume and dwell set for the carrier, coat weight and substrate: typically 50 to 80 degrees Celsius on heat-sensitive polyolefin films, and higher on PET, aluminium foil, paper and board, which tolerate hotter air; water-based grades need more drying energy and dwell than solvent-borne grades at the same coat weight. The web leaves dry, free of retained solvent and cooled below the blocking temperature of the coating before rewind |
| Reel handling | The tacky face is wound against a release liner or a release-coated reverse, such as Arcrelease RL matched to the grade, so the reel unwinds cleanly without transfer |
| Qualification | Tack and clean removal confirmed on the actual face and receiving surfaces after ageing, before a run is committed |
6. Storage and handling
Store in the original containers, kept closed, in a cool, dry, covered area away from direct sunlight and sources of heat, within the temperature range given on the label, and protect water-based grades from frost. Shelf life is stated on the label and on the Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.
7. Safety and regulatory information
Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
This Technical Data Sheet is published for on-screen reference. The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
