Arcrefin CC 450 Ultra-High-Solids Two-Component Clearcoat
A higher-solids two-component clearcoat, cured with polyisocyanate hardener, with longer flow and a longer wet edge, for multi-panel repairs and full resprays. It takes a longer booth cycle than Arcrefin CC 220 in return for distinctness of image and an even film over large areas.

1. Product description
A higher-solids clearcoat with longer flow and a longer wet edge, for multi-panel repairs and full resprays. The extra flow time buys distinctness of image and a more even film across large areas, and the cured film is specified where scratch resistance and gloss retention have to hold up next to a weathered factory finish. It cures more slowly than Arcrefin CC 220 and occupies the booth for longer.
2. Features
- Long wet edge for multi-panel work and full resprays
- Extended flow time for distinctness of image across large areas
- Cured film specified for scratch resistance and gloss retention beside a weathered factory finish
- Two full coats to 50 to 60 µm dry
- Low bake of 35 to 40 min at 60 °C metal temperature
3. Recommended uses
Clearing multi-panel repairs and full resprays over Arcrefin BC 210, BC 350 or BC 480 basecoat, where the clear has to stay open along the length of the vehicle and match the gloss of the surrounding finish.
Substrates. Fully flashed Arcrefin BC 210, BC 350 or BC 480 basecoat inside its overcoat window, across as many panels as the job covers.
4. Typical properties
| Property | Typical value | Method |
|---|---|---|
| Technology | Ultra-high-solids two-component clearcoat crosslinked with polyisocyanate hardener | Formulation |
| Appearance | Clear liquid | Visual |
| Mixing ratio | Typically 2:1 by volume with Arcrefin AN 220 | Customer or supplier protocol |
| Application viscosity, mixed and reduced material at 20 °C | 16 to 22 s, 4 mm flow cup, depending on gun setup | Customer or supplier protocol (4 mm flow cup) |
| Pot life of mixed material at 20 °C | Within 40 to 90 min and longer than Arcrefin CC 220 on the same hardener grade; roughly half at 30 °C | ISO 9514 |
| Dry film thickness, two coats | 50 to 60 µm | ISO 2808 |
| Low-bake cure | 35 to 40 min at 60 °C metal temperature after flash-off, longer than Arcrefin CC 220, followed by full cool-down | ISO 9117-1 (through-dry state) |
| Specular gloss of the cleared film | 85 GU or above at 20 degrees | ASTM D523 and ISO 2813 |
| Pendulum hardness, 7 days at 23 °C after bake | 100 to 160 s, König pendulum | ISO 1522 (König pendulum) |
| Accelerated weathering, xenon arc | 1000 to 2000 h with 80 per cent or more gloss retention and no chalking or cracking | ISO 16474-2 |
Typical values, not a specification. Values for each batch are given on its Certificate of Analysis.
5. Application
| Parameter | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Substrate | Fully flashed Arcrefin BC 210, BC 350 or BC 480 inside its overcoat window, across all panels in the job |
| Mixing | Typically 2:1 by volume with the Arcrefin AN 220 grade matched to booth temperature and job size |
| Method | Spray gun, 1.3 to 1.4 mm fluid tip; two full coats, keeping a continuous wet edge along the vehicle |
| Applied film | 50 to 60 µm dry, with 10 min flash between coats |
| Cure | 35 to 40 min at 60 °C metal temperature, then full cool-down |
| Polishing | Where required, after full cool-down |
Process. Mix with the Arcrefin AN 220 hardener grade matched to booth temperature and job size, typically 2:1 by volume. Apply two full coats with a 1.3 to 1.4 mm tip to 50 to 60 µm dry, flashing 10 min between and keeping a continuous wet edge along the vehicle. Bake 40 min at 60 °C metal temperature. Polish, where required, after full cool-down. Air-fed breathing equipment required.
6. Storage and handling
Store clearcoat and hardener in their original, tightly closed containers in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight and away from heat. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.
7. Safety and regulatory information
Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
This Technical Data Sheet is published for on-screen reference. The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
