1. Product description
A two-component non-sanding sealer applied over the prepared repair to isolate it and give the basecoat one uniform ground. It is supplied in a graded set of ground shades from white through grey to black, with additional ground tints for low-opacity reds and for three-coat colours, because those shades only reach the target colour over the correct ground. Lower build and no sanding step distinguish it from Arcrefin PS 450: it flattens colour, not profile.
2. Features
- Graded ground shades from white through grey to black
- Additional ground tints for low-opacity reds and three-coat colours
- Wet-on-wet: basecoat follows after flash-off without sanding or bake
- 20 to 35 µm dry in one or two coats
- Cured with the Arcrefin AN 220 polyisocyanate hardener range
3. Recommended uses
The last layer before colour in bodyshop repairs, over sanded surfacer, cured epoxy primer, keyed aged paint or promoted plastic, where the colour formula calls for a specific ground shade. It is required as the ground for low-opacity reds and three-coat colours.
Substrates. Sanded Arcrefin PS 450 surfacer, cured Arcrefin PR 230 primer, sound aged OEM or refinish paint sanded to key, and plastic parts previously coated with Arcrefin PR 110.

| Pot life of mixed material at 20 °C | 40 to 90 min by hardener grade, shortening to roughly half at 30 °C | ISO 9514 |
| Dry film thickness, one or two coats | 20 to 35 µm | ISO 2808 |
| Flash-off before basecoat at 20 °C | 15 to 30 min; no sanding and no bake before basecoat | Customer or supplier protocol |
| Cross-cut adhesion, sealer, basecoat and clearcoat on prepared substrate | Classification 0 to 1 (ASTM 4B to 5B where total dry film is 125 µm or less) | ISO 2409, cut spacing to total film thickness; ASTM D3359 Method B |
Typical values, not a specification. Values for each batch are given on its Certificate of Analysis.
5. Application
| Parameter | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Ground shade | Select the ground shade called for by the colour formula |
| Surface preparation | Sanded Arcrefin PS 450, cured Arcrefin PR 230 or sound aged paint sanded to key, degreased and dry; or plastic freshly coated with Arcrefin PR 110, overcoated inside the promoter's window without solvent wiping the promoter |
| Mixing | Mix with the Arcrefin AN 220 hardener and Arcrefin AN 340 reducer grades matched to booth temperature, at the ratios on the label |
| Applied film | One or two coats, 20 to 35 µm dry |
| Flash-off | 15 to 30 min at 20 °C |
| Next coat | Basecoat inside the wet-on-wet window stated on the label, without sanding and without bake |
| Flexible parts | Add Arcrefin AN 340 flexibilising additive at the rate on the data sheet |
Process. Select the ground shade called for by the colour formula. Mix with the Arcrefin AN 220 hardener and reducer, apply one or two coats at 20 to 35 µm dry, flash 15 to 30 min at 20 °C and apply basecoat inside the wet-on-wet window without sanding. No bake needed before basecoat.
6. Storage and handling
Store base and hardener in their original, tightly closed containers in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight and away from heat. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.
7. Safety and regulatory information
Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
This Technical Data Sheet is published for on-screen reference. The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
