Arcrefin BC 350 Translucent Midcoat Basecoat

A translucent, pearl and candy loaded midcoat for three-coat colours, applied between a defined ground coat and the clearcoat. The final colour depends on the number of midcoats over the ground, so each job is set up on a stepped spray-out card.

1. Product description

A translucent, pearl and candy loaded midcoat for three-coat colours, sprayed between a defined ground coat and the clearcoat. Colour is a function of coat count over that ground rather than of the formula alone, so the material is supplied with a coat-count reference and is always set up on a stepped spray-out card before the panel is sprayed. It is the grade used where a white or red three-coat pearl cannot be reproduced by a single basecoat layer.

2. Features

  • For three-coat white and red pearls that a single basecoat layer cannot reproduce
  • Supplied with a coat-count reference
  • Coat count selected from a stepped card at two, three and four coats
  • Blended outward on each successive coat
  • Multi-angle colour assessed across the full geometry set

3. Recommended uses

Three-coat pearl and candy colours in refinish, in particular white and red pearls, over an Arcrefin BC 210 ground coat on Arcrefin PS 220 sealer in the matching shade.

Substrates. The ground coat specified by the three-coat formula, normally an Arcrefin BC 210 solid or metallic ground over Arcrefin PS 220 sealer in the matching shade.

5. Application

ParameterGuidance
Colour set-upSpray a stepped card at two, three and four coats over the same ground, clear it, and select the count that matches the vehicle in daylight
MethodSpray gun, 1.2 to 1.3 mm fluid tip, with gun distance, pressure and overlap identical to the card
CoatsExactly the number selected from the card, with full flash between coats
BlendingBlend the midcoat outward on each successive coat
Next coatFlash to matt, then clear with Arcrefin CC 220 or CC 450

Process. Spray a stepped card at two, three and four coats over the same ground and select the count that matches the vehicle in daylight. Apply that exact number of coats at 1.2 to 1.3 mm tip with full flash between each, keeping gun distance, pressure and overlap identical to the card. Blend the midcoat outward on each successive coat, flash to matt and clear.

6. Storage and handling

Store in the original, tightly closed container in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight and away from heat. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.

7. Safety and regulatory information

Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
