Arcrefin CC 220 Fast Two-Component Clearcoat

A high-solids acrylic polyol clearcoat crosslinked with polyisocyanate hardener, formulated for short booth cycles on spot, one-panel and two-panel repairs. Its pot life and wet edge are shorter than those of Arcrefin CC 450, so it is not the grade for a full respray.

1. Product description

A high-solids acrylic polyol clearcoat crosslinked with polyisocyanate hardener, formulated for short booth cycles on one and two panel repairs and spot work. It flashes and through-cures quickly at low bake, which shortens pot life and the usable wet edge. It is the wrong grade for a full respray, where the clear has to stay open along the length of a car.

2. Features

  • Fast flash and through-cure at low bake: 20 to 30 min at 60 °C metal temperature
  • One light and one full coat to 45 to 60 µm dry
  • Mixed typically 2:1 by volume with Arcrefin AN 220
  • Shorter pot life and wet edge, sized for one or two panels

3. Recommended uses

Clearing spot, one-panel and two-panel repairs over Arcrefin BC 210, BC 350 or BC 480 basecoat where booth time is the constraint.

Substrates. Fully flashed Arcrefin BC 210, BC 350 or BC 480 basecoat inside its overcoat window. Not applied over unsealed surfacer or bare substrate.

5. Application

ParameterGuidance
SubstrateFully flashed Arcrefin BC 210, BC 350 or BC 480 inside its overcoat window; not over unsealed surfacer or bare substrate
MixingTypically 2:1 by volume with the Arcrefin AN 220 grade matched to booth temperature, plus a small addition of the matching Arcrefin AN 340 reducer
MethodSpray gun, 1.3 mm fluid tip; one light coat and one full coat
Applied film45 to 60 µm dry, with 5 to 10 min flash between coats
Cure20 to 30 min at 60 °C metal temperature, then cool before demasking

Process. Mix with the Arcrefin AN 220 hardener grade matched to booth temperature, typically 2:1 by volume with a small reducer addition. Apply one light and one full coat with a 1.3 mm tip to 45 to 60 µm dry, flashing 5 to 10 min between. Bake 20 to 30 min at 60 °C metal temperature, then cool before demasking. Air-fed breathing equipment required.

6. Storage and handling

Store clearcoat and hardener in their original, tightly closed containers in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight and away from heat. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.

7. Safety and regulatory information

Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
