1. Product description
The core solventborne colour range, supplied as a tinter set and a mixing binder so that solid, metallic and pearl shades are weighed out to formula on the shop scale rather than bought as finished colours. It is applied to hiding over a sealed ground, allowed to flash to an even matt, and cleared within a stated window. Batch-to-batch consistency of the tinters is the property that matters most here, because every formula in the retrieval system assumes the tinter is the same drum to drum.
2. Features
- Tinter set and mixing binder, mixed to formula by weight
- Solid, metallic and pearl shades from one system
- Produced for batch-to-batch tinter consistency, on which formula retrieval depends
- 15 to 25 µm dry over two or three coats, plus an effect coat on metallics
- Reduced with the Arcrefin AN 340 grade matched to booth temperature
3. Recommended uses
Colour coat for spot, panel and full respray repairs over Arcrefin PS 220 sealer or sanded Arcrefin PS 450 surfacer, and the ground coat for Arcrefin BC 350 three-coat colours.
Substrates. Arcrefin PS 220 sealer in the ground shade called for by the formula, or sanded Arcrefin PS 450 surfacer. Not applied directly to bare metal, filler or untreated plastic.

| Dry film thickness | 15 to 25 µm | ISO 2808 |
| Colour difference against the target panel at the face angle | Delta E*ab below 1.0 for an accepted blended repair | ASTM D2244 |
| Multi-angle colour of metallic shades (flop) | Agreed tolerance held at 15, 45 and 110 degrees aspecular | ASTM E2194 |
| Multi-angle colour of pearl shades | Agreed tolerance held across the full geometry set, including the near-specular and negative angles | ASTM E2539 |
Typical values, not a specification. Values for each batch are given on its Certificate of Analysis.
5. Application
| Parameter | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Substrate | Arcrefin PS 220 sealer in the formula's ground shade, or sanded Arcrefin PS 450; not applied directly to bare metal, filler or untreated plastic |
| Mixing | Weigh the formula on the mixing scale and reduce with the Arcrefin AN 340 grade matched to booth temperature |
| Colour check | Spray out a card with the same gun, pressure, distance and coat count as the panel, clear it and compare with the vehicle in daylight |
| Method | Spray gun, 1.2 to 1.4 mm fluid tip; two or three coats to hiding, plus an effect coat on metallics |
| Applied film | 15 to 25 µm dry, with 5 to 10 min flash between coats |
| Next coat | Flash to an even matt, then clear with Arcrefin CC 220 or CC 450 inside the stated window |
Process. Weigh the formula on the mixing scale, reduce with the Arcrefin AN 340 grade matched to booth temperature, and spray out a card first. Apply two or three coats with a 1.2 to 1.4 mm tip to 15 to 25 µm dry with 5 to 10 min flash between coats, plus an effect coat on metallics. Flash to an even matt and clear inside the stated window.
6. Storage and handling
Store tinters and binder in their original, tightly closed containers in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight and away from heat. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.
7. Safety and regulatory information
Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
This Technical Data Sheet is published for on-screen reference. The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
