Arcwood WB 320 Water-Based Two-Component Polyurethane Lacquer

A water-borne two-component polyurethane lacquer cured with a water-dispersible polyisocyanate, reaching hardness, block resistance and chemical resistance close to the solvent-borne two-component grades with substantially less solvent in the booth. It stays water-white over pale timber and painted bases.

1. Product description

A water-borne polyurethane lacquer cured with a water-dispersible polyisocyanate, reaching hardness, block resistance and chemical resistance close to the solvent-borne two-component grades while cutting solvent content in the booth substantially. It stays water-white over pale timber and painted bases, which makes it the usual choice on white and light grey furniture. It is the performance member of the WB family, above Arcwood WB 130 in the build sequence and used as the topcoat over it.

2. Features

  • Water-white film over pale timber and white or light grey bases
  • Hardness and chemical resistance close to the solvent-borne two-component grades
  • Substantially lower solvent content in the booth
  • Pot life of 2 to 4 hours
  • Topcoat over Arcwood WB 130 stain

3. Recommended uses

Clear topcoat for white and light grey furniture, institutional and contract furniture and interior joinery on sealed timber, veneer, MDF and particle board, where the plant aims to reduce solvent use in the spray booth.

Substrates. Sealed solid timber and veneer, MDF and particle board, institutional and contract furniture, interior joinery, white and pale painted bases.

5. Application

ParameterGuidance
MixingMix with the water-dispersible hardener at the stated ratio, and mix only the quantity the line will use within the pot life of 2 to 4 hours
Surface preparationOver a sealed base sanded with 320 to 400 grit, or over Arcwood WB 130 within 24 hours of staining
DilutionAdjust only as instructed for the grade supplied
Film build2 coats at 30 to 40 microns dry per coat, within a complete interior system of 60 to 120 microns dry
Shop and drying conditionsWork between 15 and 35 degrees C with panels and material at shop temperature. Hold relative humidity below about 70 per cent so the film coalesces, and use forced air at 30 to 40 degrees C where the line allows.
StackingNot before 24 hours at 30 degrees C

Process. Mix with the water-dispersible hardener, spray 2 coats at 30 to 40 microns dry per coat. Pot life 2 to 4 hours. Hold relative humidity below about 70 per cent so the film coalesces, and use forced air at 30 to 40 degrees C where the line allows. Stack after 24 hours.

6. Storage and handling

Store base and water-dispersible hardener in their original, tightly closed containers in a cool, covered area, protected from frost and direct sunlight, keeping the hardener sealed against moisture. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.

7. Safety and regulatory information

Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
