1. Product description

A high-solids pigmented polyurethane topcoat that builds 40 to 60 microns per coat, aimed at kitchen and bath fronts, flooring and heavy-use horizontal surfaces. An aliphatic isocyanate version is supplied for whites and pale colours, where the aromatic grades used elsewhere in the range will yellow under light. It is the top of the PU family on film build, abrasion and colour stability.

2. Features

  • Builds 40 to 60 microns dry per coat
  • Aliphatic isocyanate version for whites and pale colours
  • Complete system of 100 to 150 microns dry for high-build and flooring work
  • Taber abrasion mass loss of 20 to 60 mg
  • Pot life of 3 to 4 hours at 30 degrees C

3. Recommended uses

Pigmented topcoat for MDF and particle board kitchen and bath fronts and gables, engineered flooring, commercial worktops and reception joinery, applied over a filled and sanded base.

Substrates. MDF and particle board fronts and gables, primed solid timber, engineered flooring, commercial worktops and reception joinery.

5. Application

ParameterGuidance
MixingMix with the hardener specified for the grade at the stated ratio; the aliphatic version is used for whites and pale colours
Surface preparationOver a filled and sanded base, sanded with 320 to 400 grit and free of dust, on sealed MDF and particle board or primed solid timber
ThinningThin to spray viscosity with the thinner specified for the grade, inside 14 to 25 s on a 4 mm flow cup at 30 degrees C
Film build2 coats at 40 to 60 microns dry per coat. Spray vertical faces in two passes to avoid sagging at this build.
Pot life3 to 4 hours at 30 degrees C
Drying at 30 degrees CStack after 24 to 48 hours, full cure over 7 days
Shop conditionsWork between 15 and 35 degrees C with relative humidity below about 70 per cent.

Process. Mix with the specified hardener, thin to spray viscosity and apply 2 coats at 40 to 60 microns dry per coat over a filled and sanded base. Pot life 3 to 4 hours at 30 degrees C. Spray vertical faces in two passes to avoid sagging at this build. Stack after 24 to 48 hours, full cure 7 days.

6. Storage and handling

Store base and hardener in their original, tightly closed containers in a cool, dry, covered area out of direct sunlight, keeping the hardener sealed against moisture. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.

7. Safety and regulatory information

Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
