Arcwood NC 360 Acid-Catalysed Lacquer
A two-pack amino resin lacquer cured by an acid hardener, giving markedly higher hardness, block resistance and chemical resistance than nitrocellulose at a comparable film build. Despite the NC family code it contains no appreciable nitrocellulose film former and is not reversible with solvent.

1. Product description
A two-pack amino resin lacquer cured by an acid hardener, giving markedly higher hardness, block resistance and chemical resistance than nitrocellulose at a comparable film build. Despite the NC family code it contains no appreciable nitrocellulose film former and is not reversible with solvent. The condensation cure releases a small quantity of free formaldehyde while the film dries, so booth and drying area ventilation, the stated hardener addition and a full cure before stacking or wrapping are all part of the specification, not optional.
2. Features
- Higher hardness, block resistance and chemical resistance than nitrocellulose at a comparable film build
- Pot life of 6 to 8 hours at 30 degrees C
- Full chemical resistance develops over 7 days
- Crosslinked film, repaired by recoating a whole face rather than by blending
- Ventilated cure and exact hardener addition form part of the specification
3. Recommended uses
Kitchen and wardrobe components, interior doors and case furniture on sealed timber, veneer, MDF and particle board, where hardness and resistance to household liquids are required and the cure schedule and ventilation can be controlled.
Substrates. Sealed solid timber and veneer, MDF and particle board, kitchen and wardrobe components, interior doors.

Typical values, not a specification. Values for each batch are given on its Certificate of Analysis.
5. Application
| Parameter | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Mixing | Add the acid hardener at the stated ratio exactly. The hardener addition is part of the specification and is not varied. |
| Surface preparation | Over a sealer confirmed as compatible with acid-catalysed lacquer for the grade supplied, sanded with 320 to 400 grit and free of dust. Stearate-containing sanding sealers and alkaline or amine-containing stains beneath the lacquer can weaken intercoat adhesion or retard the acid cure. |
| Thinner | Only the thinner specified for the grade |
| Film build | 2 to 3 coats at 25 to 35 microns dry per coat, within a complete interior system of 60 to 120 microns dry |
| Pot life | 6 to 8 hours at 30 degrees C |
| Cure and stacking at 30 degrees C | Cure in a ventilated booth and drying area. Do not stack or wrap before 24 to 48 hours; full chemical resistance develops over 7 days. |
| Handling | Refer to the Safety Data Sheet, issued on request, for handling during mixing and cure |
Process. Add acid hardener at the stated ratio, spray 2 to 3 coats at 25 to 35 microns dry per coat. Pot life 6 to 8 hours at 30 degrees C. Ventilated cure, do not stack before 24 to 48 hours, full chemical resistance develops over 7 days.
6. Storage and handling
Store base and hardener in their original, tightly closed containers in a cool, dry, covered area out of direct sunlight, keeping the acid hardener in its own closed container. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.
7. Safety and regulatory information
Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
This Technical Data Sheet is published for on-screen reference. The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
