1. Product description
A single-pack nitrocellulose lacquer that dries by solvent release, supplied from matt through satin to gloss. It builds quickly, has the soft hand feel associated with traditional furniture work, and can be repaired or fully reversed on site because fresh coats re-dissolve into the existing film. It is the repairable option in the NC family and is specified for indoor furniture that does not meet standing water, alcohol or aggressive cleaning agents.
2. Features
- Touch dry in 20 to 30 minutes at 30 degrees C
- Repairable and reversible on site with fresh lacquer
- Supplied from matt through satin to gloss
- Soft hand feel associated with traditional furniture finishes
- For indoor furniture that does not meet standing water, alcohol or aggressive cleaning agents
3. Recommended uses
Clear finish for indoor furniture, veneered panel and MDF or particle board components where repair in the field matters more than chemical resistance. It is not specified for surfaces that meet standing water, alcohol or aggressive cleaning agents.
Substrates. Sealed solid timber, veneered panel, MDF and particle board previously coated with Arcwood SL 120.
4. Typical properties

| Resistance to cold liquids: water, 48 per cent ethanol, coffee, vegetable oil | Rated lower than crosslinked topcoats against alcohol; not specified for surfaces that meet these liquids | EN 12720 |
Typical values, not a specification. Values for each batch are given on its Certificate of Analysis.
5. Application
| Parameter | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Application method | Conventional, HVLP or airless-assisted spray |
| Surface preparation | Over Arcwood SL 120, sanded with 320 to 400 grit and free of dust |
| Thinner | Nitrocellulose thinner specified for the grade. Where humidity is marginal, the retarder specified for the grade may be added to slow evaporation and reduce the risk of blushing; it does not make spraying at high humidity acceptable. |
| Film build | 2 to 3 coats at 20 to 30 microns dry per coat, within a complete interior system of 60 to 120 microns dry |
| Drying at 30 degrees C | Touch dry 20 to 30 minutes, handleable in 2 to 4 hours, stack not before 24 hours |
| Shop conditions | Work between 15 and 35 degrees C. Do not spray at high humidity, because moisture condensing into the drying film causes blushing. |
| Repair | Damaged areas are blended in place with fresh coats of the same lacquer, which re-dissolve into the existing film |
Process. Conventional, HVLP or airless-assisted spray, 2 to 3 coats at 20 to 30 microns dry per coat. Touch dry 20 to 30 minutes, handleable in 2 to 4 hours, stackable after 24 hours at 30 degrees C. Do not spray at high humidity, because moisture condensing into the drying film causes blushing.
6. Storage and handling
