1. Product description

Superdurable polyester for architectural sections that carry a long weathering expectation: curtain walling, window and door profiles, louvres, rainscreen and balustrade. Gloss retention and colour hold well beyond what a standard polyester delivers on the same exposure, and it is supplied TGIC-free across the gloss range. This is the base superdurable grade, for inland and normal urban exposure.

2. Features

  • Gloss and colour retention beyond a standard polyester on the same exposure
  • TGIC-free across the gloss range
  • For inland and normal urban exposure
  • 60 to 80 microns dry film, with a stated minimum build for architectural work

3. Recommended uses

Curtain walling, window and door profiles, louvres, rainscreen and balustrade.

Substrates. Chromate-free pretreated aluminium extrusion and sheet, pretreated galvanised steel.

5. Application

ParameterGuidance
Application methodElectrostatic corona or tribostatic spray
Surface preparationChromate-free pretreated aluminium extrusion and sheet, or pretreated galvanised steel, clean and dry
Dilution or thinnerNone; applied as supplied, solvent-free
Dry film thickness60 to 80 microns, not below the minimum build stated in the architectural specification; checked to ISO 2360 on aluminium and ISO 2178 on steel
Cure schedule10 to 15 min at 190 to 200 degrees C object temperature, confirmed with a data-logging oven profiler; oven air temperature is not the cure figure
OversprayMetallic and bonded metallic shades in the SD subfamily are sprayed to waste, not reclaimed, so the shade does not drift
ExposureFor high ultraviolet, coastal or industrial atmospheres, specify SD 460

Process. Electrostatic corona or tribostatic spray, 60 to 80 microns dry film, with a stated minimum build for architectural work. Typical cure 10 to 15 minutes at 190 to 200 degrees C object temperature.

6. Storage and handling

Store sealed in the original packaging in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and let cartons reach workshop temperature before opening so that condensation does not form on the powder. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.

7. Safety and regulatory information

Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.

This Technical Data Sheet is published for on-screen reference. The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
