Arcdura PE 360 High-Build Textured Polyester
Exterior TGIC-free HAA polyester powder on the PE 320 platform, reformulated for higher build and supplied textured for substrates that are not cosmetically clean. Weathering performance matches PE 320; build, edge coverage and appearance differ.

1. Product description
Exterior polyester on the same TGIC-free HAA platform as PE 320, reformulated for higher build and supplied textured, for substrates that are not cosmetically clean. Hot-dip galvanised steel, heavy fabrication, weldmesh and rougher castings take this grade because the texture hides zinc spangle, grinding marks and pinholing from the substrate itself. The texture also carries the water given off during crosslinking better than a smooth film does, but the HAA limit still applies, so build above roughly 100 microns is laid on in two passes rather than one. Weathering performance matches PE 320; what differs is build, edge coverage and appearance.
2. Features
- Texture hides zinc spangle, grinding marks and pinholing from the substrate
- 100 to 150 microns dry film, in two passes above roughly 100 microns
- Higher edge coverage than PE 320
- Weathering performance as PE 320
- TGIC-free, HAA crosslinked
3. Recommended uses
Hot-dip galvanised steel, heavy fabrication, weldmesh and rougher castings in exterior service.
Substrates. Hot-dip galvanised steel, blast-cleaned fabrication, castings, aluminium.
4. Typical properties
| Property | Typical value | Method |
|---|---|---|
| Technology | Thermosetting polyester powder with HAA hardener, TGIC-free, solvent-free | Formulation |
| Appearance and finish | Fine, free-flowing powder; cures to a textured film, colour and gloss level to order | Visual, against the agreed colour standard |
| Particle size distribution, d50 | 30 to 45 microns | ISO 8130-13, laser diffraction |
| Specific gravity | 1.2 to 1.8 g/cm3, set by pigment and filler loading | ISO 8130-2 or ISO 8130-3 |
| Gel time at 180 degrees C | 25 to 120 s | ISO 8130-6 |
| Inclined plate flow | 15 to 25 mm, at the lower end of the range for textured and high-build grades | ISO 8130-11 |
| Dry film thickness | 100 to 150 microns | ISO 2178 magnetic method on steel, ISO 2360 eddy current on aluminium |
| Adhesion | Cross-cut classification 0, no detachment, at conventional spray build; at the applied 100 to 150 microns, cross-cut is run with the cut spacing ISO 2409 sets for the film thickness, 2 mm up to 120 microns and 3 mm above, and assessed to customer or supplier protocol | ISO 2409 |
| Cupping and conical mandrel bend | 5 mm cupping and above without cracking; mandrel bend without cracking at the stated build. Flexibility falls as film build rises | ISO 1520 and ISO 6860 |
| Accelerated weathering, gloss retention | Quoted at 1000 h exposure, as PE 320 | ISO 16474-3 fluorescent UV, or ISO 16474-2 where a xenon cycle is specified |
Typical values, not a specification. Values for each batch are given on its Certificate of Analysis.
5. Application
| Parameter | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Application method | Electrostatic corona or tribostatic spray |
| Surface preparation | Hot-dip galvanised steel, blast-cleaned fabrication, castings or aluminium, clean and dry. Galvanised work is preheated and degassed before the powder is laid on. |
| Dilution or thinner | None; applied as supplied, solvent-free |
| Dry film thickness | 100 to 150 microns, applied in two passes where the build goes above roughly 100 microns, with the first coat gelled or part cured before the second and the full cure schedule given after the second coat; the inter-coat schedule is agreed with Arctic technical service |
| Cure schedule | 12 to 15 min at 180 to 200 degrees C object temperature, confirmed with a data-logging oven profiler; oven air temperature is not the cure figure |
| Film build check | ISO 2178 on steel, ISO 2360 on aluminium |
Process. Electrostatic corona or tribostatic spray, 100 to 150 microns dry film, applied in two passes where the build goes above roughly 100 microns. Typical cure 12 to 15 minutes at 180 to 200 degrees C object temperature. Galvanised work is preheated and degassed before the powder is laid on.
6. Storage and handling
Store sealed in the original packaging in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and let cartons reach workshop temperature before opening so that condensation does not form on the powder. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.
7. Safety and regulatory information
Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
This Technical Data Sheet is published for on-screen reference. The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
