Arcdom PC 210 Pre-Coated Sheet Touch-Up and Edge Coating
Arcdom PC 210 is an air drying or low bake repair coating matched to the colour and gloss of a customer's pre-coated coil. It is used on sheared edges, drilled and punched holes, fixing points, weld marks and handling damage on parts that are already formed and often already built into a machine.

1. Product description
A repair coating matched to the colour and gloss of a customer’s pre-coated coil, for sheared edges, drilled and punched holes, fixing points, weld marks and handling damage found at assembly or in the field. It air dries or takes a low bake, because the part it is used on is already formed and often already built into a machine. It is a repair material only: the colour match is made against a retained sample of the coil in use and a repaired area is judged against that sample rather than against new coil, since a coil coated film and a repair film age differently.
2. Features
- Colour and gloss matched to a retained sample of the coil in use
- Air dry or low bake, for parts already formed or assembled
- Brush, small gun or aerosol application to the smallest area that covers the defect
- For polyester, silicone-polyester and polyurethane coil topcoats
- A repair material only, not a substitute for a designed edge or a fold that hides the cut metal
3. Recommended uses
Repair of sheared edges, drilled and punched holes, fixing points, weld marks and handling damage on coil coated steel and aluminium appliance parts, at assembly or in the field.
Substrates. Coil coated steel and aluminium with polyester, silicone-polyester or polyurethane topcoats, and the exposed metal and primer at a cut edge. The area is degreased and lightly abraded back to sound paint before repair.
4. Typical properties
| Property | Typical value | Method |
|---|---|---|
| Technology | Single pack solvent-borne air drying repair coating, with optional low bake | Formulation |
| Appearance | Matched to the colour and gloss of the retained coil sample | Visual, against the retained coil sample |
| Colour difference against the retained coil sample | Typically dE below 1.0, measured on a flat repair test panel prepared on the retained coil sample, with the tolerance, measuring geometry and illuminant agreed in writing before supply | ASTM D2244 |
| Specular gloss | Held within about 5 GU of the retained coil sample, measured on a flat repair test panel prepared on that sample at 60°, or at 85° where the coil sample reads below 10 GU at 60°, with the geometry stated with every figure | ISO 2813 |
| Dry film thickness | Typically 20 to 30 µm, built to match the surrounding coil film | ISO 2808 |
| Surface drying | Touch dry in 30 to 60 minutes at 25 °C | ISO 9117-3 |
| Handling | Handleable after 2 to 4 hours at 25 °C, or after force drying 20 minutes at 60 °C | Customer or supplier protocol |
| Cross-cut adhesion | Classification 0 to 1 once full hardness is reached, on a flat repair test panel prepared on the retained coil sample. Cut spacing follows total film build: 1 mm up to 60 µm, 2 mm from 60 to 120 µm | ISO 2409 |
| Full hardness | Full hardness and solvent resistance develop over several days at ambient; a repair is not tested, stacked or packed before then | Customer or supplier protocol |
Typical values, not a specification. Values for each batch are given on its Certificate of Analysis.
5. Application
| Parameter | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Application method | Brush, small gun or aerosol, to the smallest area that covers the defect |
| Surface preparation | Degreased and lightly abraded back to sound paint, including the exposed metal and primer at a cut edge |
| Drying schedule | Touch dry in 30 to 60 minutes and handleable after 2 to 4 hours at 25 °C, or force dried 20 minutes at 60 °C |
| Full cure | Several days at ambient before the repair is tested, stacked or packed |
| Assessment | A repaired area is judged against the retained coil sample rather than new coil, since a coil coated film and a repair film age differently |
| Scope | Pre-coated sheet itself is applied by a coil coater on a roller coating line and is not supplied for application in the appliance plant |
Process. Brush, small gun or aerosol to the smallest area that covers the defect, touch dry in 30 to 60 minutes and handleable after 2 to 4 hours at 25 degrees C, or force dried 20 minutes at 60 degrees C. Full hardness and solvent resistance take several days at ambient, so a repair is not tested, stacked or packed before then. Pre-coated sheet itself is applied by a coil coater on a roller coating line and is not supplied for application in the appliance plant.
6. Storage and handling
Store in the original closed containers in a cool, dry, covered area away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Shelf life is stated on the label and on the Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.
7. Safety and regulatory information
Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
This Technical Data Sheet is published for on-screen reference. The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
