Arcdom EX 210 Indoor Panel Hybrid Powder Finish
Arcdom EX 210 is an epoxy-polyester hybrid thermosetting powder for the visible indoor panels of white goods, coated after forming. It is the standard indoor panel grade in the Arcdom range, held against a retained master standard so that colour and gloss match across panels coated on different lines or on different days.

1. Product description
An epoxy-polyester hybrid thermosetting powder for the visible indoor panels of white goods: refrigerator cabinets and doors, washing machine lids and fronts, dishwasher fronts and freezer doors coated after forming. It is the standard indoor panel grade in the range, specified where colour and gloss have to match across panels coated on different lines or on different days. It is not offered for outdoor-facing parts, because a hybrid film chalks and loses gloss under ultraviolet.
2. Features
- Epoxy-polyester hybrid thermosetting powder, solvent free
- Colour and gloss held against a retained master standard, with the batch tolerance agreed in writing before supply
- For panels coated after forming, on pretreated steel, galvanised steel and aluminium
- Cure confirmed by logged metal temperature and dwell, not by oven air temperature
- Indoor parts only, because a hybrid film chalks and loses gloss under ultraviolet
3. Recommended uses
Refrigerator cabinets and doors, freezer doors, washing machine lids and fronts, and dishwasher fronts. Outdoor-facing parts on the same appliance use Arcdom EX 320.
Substrates. Cold rolled steel, hot dip and electrogalvanised steel, and aluminium, each pretreated by clean, rinse, conversion coating and dry off before coating. The dry off must clear water from seams and blind holes, or the film will blister over them.
4. Typical properties
| Property | Typical value | Method |
|---|---|---|
| Technology | Epoxy-polyester hybrid thermosetting powder, solvent free | Formulation |
| Appearance | Free-flowing powder; cured film in the agreed colour, gloss and texture | Visual |
| Density | Typically 1.3 to 1.7 g/cm³, depending on colour | ISO 8130-3 |
| Dry film thickness | Typically 55 to 70 µm in one coat | ISO 2808 |
| Specular gloss | Agreed level within the range window: matt 15 to 30, semi-gloss 40 to 60 or high gloss 80 to 95 GU at 60°, held within about 5 GU of the retained master panel | ISO 2813 |
| Colour difference against the retained master | Typically dE below 1.0 across the panels of one machine, with the tolerance, measuring geometry and illuminant agreed in writing before supply | ASTM D2244 |
| Cross-cut adhesion | Classification 0 to 1, dry and after the wet and heat exposures in the specification; 1 mm cut spacing below 60 µm, 2 mm from 60 µm | ISO 2409 |
| Pencil hardness | Typically H to 2H | ASTM D3363 |
| Falling weight impact | Typically 5 to 10 J direct impact without cracking or adhesion loss at the specified film build, with indenter, mass and drop height stated with the result | ISO 6272-1 |
| Detergent resistance | Typically 24 to 72 hours immersion in 1 per cent alkaline detergent at 60 °C, with no blistering, softening or adhesion loss after 24 hours recovery | ISO 2812-1 |
Typical values, not a specification. Values for each batch are given on its Certificate of Analysis.
5. Application
| Parameter | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Application method | Electrostatic spray onto an earthed part, in a booth with powder recovery |
| Surface preparation | Clean, rinse, conversion coating and dry off. The dry off must clear water from seams and blind holes, or the film will blister over them |
| Dilution | None. Supplied ready to spray; recovered powder is sieved before it is returned to the feed |
| Film thickness | Typically 55 to 70 µm dry in one coat |
| Cure schedule | 10 to 15 minutes at 180 to 200 °C metal temperature, confirmed with a data logger on a representative body. Oven air temperature is not the control point |
| Next step | Cooled parts pass to assembly. On touch point panels the cured film can be the basecoat for Arcdom AB 310, overcoated within the basecoat recoat window confirmed on trial panels for that pair; a film left beyond that window is abraded and cleaned before overcoating |
Process. Electrostatic spray onto an earthed part with powder recovery, cured 10 to 15 minutes at 180 to 200 degrees C metal temperature. Air temperature in the oven is not the control point: a part that never reaches metal temperature never cures, so the schedule is confirmed with a data logger on a representative body.
6. Storage and handling
Store in the original closed packaging in a cool, dry, covered area away from heat sources and direct sunlight, and protect opened packs from moisture pick-up. Shelf life is stated on the label and on the Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.
7. Safety and regulatory information
Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
This Technical Data Sheet is published for on-screen reference. The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
