1. Product description

Two-pack aliphatic acrylic polyurethane finish for exterior structural steel, plant and equipment. Holds gloss and colour under ultraviolet where an epoxy would chalk, and takes industrial cleaning and splash without softening. The default topcoat for C3 and C4 systems specified to a medium or high durability range.

2. Features

  • Gloss and colour retention under ultraviolet
  • Resists industrial cleaning and chemical splash
  • Handleable within hours of application
  • Default topcoat for C3 and C4 systems at medium or high durability
  • Spray finish for appearance-critical work, brush and roller for touch-up

3. Recommended uses

Topcoat in three-coat and two-coat systems on exterior structural steel, plant and equipment in C3 and C4 atmospheric exposure, and repair finish on factory-finished steel after abrasion.

Substrates. Arcstruct EP intermediate coats, Arcstruct PR primers in two-coat systems, factory-finished steel for repair after abrasion

5. Application

ParameterGuidance
Application methodConventional or airless spray for appearance-critical work; brush and roller for touch-up.
SubstrateArcstruct EP intermediate coat, clean, dry and within its overcoating interval; Arcstruct PR 220 or the organic grade of Arcstruct PR 450 in a two-coat system; factory-finished steel abraded and degreased. Not applied directly over the inorganic grade of PR 450, which first takes a mist coat and Arcstruct EP 240.
MixingBase mixed with the aliphatic isocyanate hardener at the stated ratio and used within the pot life. Containers are resealed and lines kept dry, since moisture in the wet film causes gassing.
ThinningOnly with the polyurethane grade thinner named for the product, within the limit stated on the label.
Film thickness50 to 80 micrometres dry per coat, verified to ISO 2808.
Conditions and cureSubstrate at least 3 degrees Celsius above the dew point during application and initial cure. Handleable within hours, with full property development over several days.

Process. Conventional or airless spray for appearance-critical work, brush and roller for touch-up. Two-pack hydroxyl and aliphatic isocyanate cure, applied within the stated overcoating window and at least 3 degrees above the dew point. Moisture in the wet film causes gassing, so containers and lines are kept dry. Handleable within hours, full property development over several days

6. Storage and handling

Store in the original closed containers under cover, dry and out of direct sun, at 5 to 35 degrees Celsius, and reseal the hardener immediately after use because it reacts with atmospheric moisture. Shelf life is stated on the label and the Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.

7. Safety and regulatory information

Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.

This Technical Data Sheet is published for on-screen reference. The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
