1. Product description

Thin-film two-pack epoxy lining for the bore of steel line pipe and tube, applied to reduce surface roughness and so reduce pressure drop, and to protect the internal surface during storage and transport. The film is smooth and hard rather than heavy, because hydraulic efficiency depends on wall roughness and not on thickness. Supplied in grades matched to gas transmission duty and to general process and structural tube.

2. Features

  • Smooth, hard film that lowers wall roughness
  • Thin film, since hydraulic efficiency depends on roughness rather than thickness
  • Protects the bore during storage and transport
  • Line applied by lance or spinning head and force cured
  • Grades for gas transmission and for process and structural tube

3. Recommended uses

Internal lining of steel line pipe for gas transmission and of process and structural tube, where lower pressure drop and protection of the bore before commissioning are required.

Substrates. Internally blast-cleaned carbon steel pipe and tube

Typical values, not a specification. Values for each batch are given on its Certificate of Analysis.

5. Application

ParameterGuidance
Application methodAirless spray from a travelling lance or spinning head on a pipe coating line, with the pipe rotated for even distribution.
Surface preparationBore blast-cleaned to Sa 2.5 to ISO 8501-1, with the profile held towards the lower end of the medium grade to ISO 8503-2 so the thin film covers the peaks, and blast residues removed from the bore.
MixingTwo-pack, proportioned at the stated ratio and used within the pot life.
Film thickness50 to 100 micrometres dry, verified to ISO 2808.
CureForce cured in an oven or by induction heating of the pipe wall, with the schedule set by wall temperature and line speed; cure confirmed by solvent rub before handling.
Inspection before despatchFilm thickness checked, bore inspected for runs and dry spray, and holiday detection carried out where the specification calls for it.

Process. Airless spray from a travelling lance or spinning head on a pipe coating line, pipe rotated for even distribution. Two-pack, force cured in an oven or by induction heating of the pipe wall. Film thickness checked and the bore inspected for runs and dry spray before despatch, with holiday detection where the specification calls for it

6. Storage and handling

Store in the original closed containers under cover, dry and out of direct sun, at 5 to 35 degrees Celsius; stir the base to redisperse any settlement before mixing. Shelf life is stated on the label and the Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.

7. Safety and regulatory information

Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.

This Technical Data Sheet is published for on-screen reference. The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
