Arcray FL 810 UV Fluorescent and Rainbow Effect Colours
Daylight fluorescent colours and a rainbow effect set for split-duct working or blending between adjacent stations, where shelf visibility matters more than a measured brand match. Light fastness is materially lower than in the rest of the Arcray range and limits where these grades can be used.

1. Product description
Daylight fluorescent colours and a rainbow effect set intended for split-duct working or blending between adjacent stations, where the requirement is shelf visibility rather than a measured brand match. Fluorescent pigments are loaded at high levels and give their effect in a thick film, so they are normally printed over a white base and through a higher-volume anilox than a conventional spot colour. Light fastness is the limiting property of this subfamily and is materially lower than the rest of the range, so the expected exposure and shelf life of the pack must be stated before specification.
2. Features
- High loading of daylight fluorescent pigment, giving the effect in a thick film
- Rainbow effect set for split-duct or adjacent-station blending
- Normally printed over an opaque white base
- Runs on 6.0 to 10.0 cm³/m² anilox
- Dual cure under mercury-arc or LED at 395 nm
3. Recommended uses
Promotional and shelf-impact decoration on self-adhesive paper and board facestock and filmic PP and PET labels, where visual impact is the requirement and the expected light exposure of the pack is limited.
Substrates. Self-adhesive paper and board facestock, corona-treated or top-coated PP and PET, printed over an opaque white base on clear film.
4. Typical properties
| Property | Typical value | Method |
|---|---|---|
| Technology | Dual-cure UV and LED-UV reactive system with daylight fluorescent pigment; no solvent or water | Formulation |
| Colour | Daylight fluorescent shades and a rainbow effect set, assessed against an agreed reference over the production white base; not supplied as a measured brand match | Customer or supplier protocol |
| Carrier | None. A reactive system with no solvent or water, converted to film by photopolymerisation; nothing evaporates in print | Formulation |
| Viscosity at 25 °C, cone and plate | 0.6 to 1.8 Pa.s | ISO 2884-1 |
| Fineness of grind | 5 to 10 micrometres | ISO 1524 |
| Density at 20 °C | 1.02 to 1.20 g/cm³ | ISO 2811-1 |
| Cure energy at the web, UV-A | Higher than at the process and line colour stations, because the 6.0 to 10.0 cm³/m² anilox lays a thicker film and the fluorescent pigment absorbs part of the curing energy; set at the press trial and verified with a radiometer at the web | In-house, band-calibrated radiometer read at the web |
| Rub resistance, cured film | 100 to 200 cycles at 1.8 kg without transfer, film build dependent | ASTM D5264 |
| Light fastness, blue wool reference scale | Blue wool 1 to 3 | ISO 12040, filtered xenon arc against the blue wool reference scale |
Typical values, not a specification. Values for each batch are given on its Certificate of Analysis.
5. Application
| Parameter | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Application method | Narrow-web UV flexo on 6.0 to 10.0 cm³/m² anilox, split duct or blended between adjacent stations |
| Base | On clear film, print over a cured opaque white base such as Arcray OW 510 |
| Surface preparation | Filmic facestock at 38 mN/m or above at the point of printing, not at the point of manufacture (ISO 8296 on PP; equivalent wetting tension test on PET). In-line corona on PP; PET normally top-coated or primed |
| Dilution | Supplied at press viscosity. No solvent or water. Any viscosity adjustment only with a reactive thinner approved by Arctic for the grade, within the limit on the confirmed Technical Data Sheet |
| Cure | Mercury-arc or LED at 395 nm, dose measured with a radiometer at the web |
| Specification | State the expected light exposure and the shelf life of the pack before specification, and keep fluorescent grades away from the mixing station |
Process. Narrow-web UV flexo, 6.0 to 10.0 cm3/m2 anilox, split duct or adjacent-station blend, dual cure under mercury-arc or LED at 395 nm.
6. Storage and handling
Store in the closed, opaque original container in a cool, dry place away from daylight, UV sources and heat, and return press ink to a covered, light-proof container after the run. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis, and handling information is given in the Safety Data Sheet, issued on request. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.
7. Safety and regulatory information
Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
This Technical Data Sheet is published for on-screen reference. The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
