Arcray LM 910 Low-Migration LED-UV Process and Line Colour Set
A low-migration process and line colour set for LED-UV curing at 395 nm, formulated with highly reactive, higher-functionality monomers, oligomers and photoinitiators that bind into the cured film to reduce the quantity of extractable material. It is intended for labels and sleeves on the outer surface of indirect food contact packs, where compliance for any given pack is established by testing that pack.

1. Product description
A low-migration process and line colour set for LED-UV curing, formulated using highly reactive, higher-functionality monomers, oligomers and photoinitiators that bind into the cured film so that the quantity of extractable material is reduced. It is intended for labels and sleeves applied to indirect food contact packs, and it is supplied with the handling, cure and housekeeping requirements that low-migration work depends on. Migration behaviour is a property of the finished pack, not of the ink alone, so compliance for any given pack is established by testing that pack in its own construction, filling and storage conditions; a declaration and compliance dossier is issued on request with the Technical Data Sheet.
2. Features
- LED cure only, at 395 nm
- Higher-functionality monomers, oligomers and photoinitiators that bind into the cured film
- Process and line colours in one low-migration set
- Supplied with handling, cure and housekeeping requirements
- Declaration and compliance dossier issued on request against the product supplied
3. Recommended uses
Labels and sleeves applied to the outer surface of indirect food contact packs, on self-adhesive paper and filmic facestock and sleeve film. Suitability for a given pack is established by testing that pack in its own construction, filling and storage conditions.
Substrates. Self-adhesive paper and filmic facestock, corona-treated or top-coated PP, PE and PET, sleeve film, applied to the outer surface of the pack.
4. Typical properties
| Property | Typical value | Method |
|---|---|---|
| Technology | LED-UV curing low-migration system of higher-functionality monomers, oligomers and photoinitiators, pigmented; no solvent or water | Formulation |
| Colour | Process and line colours | Spectrophotometric measurement to ISO 13655 |
| Carrier | None. A reactive system with no solvent or water, converted to film by photopolymerisation; nothing evaporates in print | Formulation |
| Viscosity at 25 °C, cone and plate | 0.6 to 1.8 Pa.s | ISO 2884-1 |
| Fineness of grind | 5 to 10 micrometres | ISO 1524 |
| Density at 20 °C | 1.02 to 1.20 g/cm³, colour dependent | ISO 2811-1 |
| Cure energy at the web, UV-A | LED at 395 nm only: 80 to 120 mJ/cm² at 8 to 16 W/cm², verified at the web on every run | In-house, band-calibrated radiometer read at the web |
| Applied film weight, cured | 1.0 to 2.5 g/m² | In-house, gravimetric |
| Light fastness, blue wool reference scale | Blue wool 4 to 7 depending on colour, with magenta normally the limiting colour | ISO 12040, filtered xenon arc against the blue wool reference scale |
| Migration | Not a property of the ink alone. Established for the finished pack by testing that pack in its own construction, filling and storage conditions | Customer or supplier protocol, against the regulation the brand owner requires |
Typical values, not a specification. Values for each batch are given on its Certificate of Analysis.
5. Application
| Parameter | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Application method | Narrow-web LED-UV flexo at 395 nm, LED cure only; typically 3.0 to 5.0 cm³/m² anilox for process and 4.0 to 6.0 cm³/m² for line colours |
| Surface preparation | Film and sleeve stock at 38 mN/m or above at the point of printing (ISO 8296 on PE and PP; equivalent wetting tension test on PET, PETG, OPS and PVC). In-line corona on PP and PE; PET and PETG normally top-coated or primed |
| Dilution | Supplied at press viscosity. No solvent, water or additions of any kind other than materials approved by Arctic for the LM grades; standard Arcray grades and thinners must not be mixed in |
| Cure | Full dose verified by radiometer at the web on every run. Line speed, lamp power and lamp-to-web distance are fixed at the trial and repeated in production |
| Housekeeping | Segregated pumps, buckets, blades and cleaning equipment, kept apart from standard grades |
| Reel handling | Control set-off in the rewound reel and control the storage environment of printed reels |
| Next step | Migration testing of the finished pack; the declaration and compliance dossier are issued on request against the product supplied |
Process. Narrow-web LED-UV flexo at 395 nm, LED cure only, full cure energy verified by radiometer at the web, segregated ink handling and dedicated cleaning.
6. Storage and handling
Store in the closed, opaque original container in a cool, dry place away from daylight, UV sources and heat, segregated from standard grades and handled with dedicated equipment. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis, and handling information is given in the Safety Data Sheet, issued on request. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.
7. Safety and regulatory information
Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
This Technical Data Sheet is published for on-screen reference. The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
