Arcvista GT 620 Coarse Particle Glitter Coating
A UV curing screen coating carrying large reflective particles for a visible glitter effect at heavy film build. It is laid down through an open mesh and cured with enough energy to anchor the particles through the full depth of the film.

1. Product description
A screen applied coating carrying large reflective particles for a visible glitter effect at heavy film build. The particle size rules out anilox application, so it is laid down through an open mesh and cured with enough energy to anchor the particles through the full depth of the film. Rub and scuff performance follows from how well the particles are locked in, so cure and downstream handling are checked in the trial.
2. Features
- Large reflective particles for a visible glitter effect
- Screen applied through an open mesh at 20 to 60 g/m² dry
- Cure set to anchor the particles through the full depth of the film
- Rub and scuff performance confirmed in the job trial
3. Recommended uses
Glitter panels and graphic details on folding cartons, cast-coated and laminated board and rigid coated sheet.
Substrates. Coated folding boxboard, cast-coated board, laminated board and rigid coated sheet
4. Typical properties
| Property | Typical value | Method |
|---|---|---|
| Technology | UV curing screen coating with coarse reflective particles, effectively solvent free | Formulation |
| Appearance | Thixotropic liquid carrying large reflective particles | Visual |
| Viscosity at 23 °C, low shear | 3,000 to 15,000 mPa·s, thixotropic | ISO 3219-2 (rotational viscometer at low shear) |
| Density at 20 °C | 1.00 to 1.25 g/cm³ | ISO 2811-1 |
| Non-volatile matter | 96 to 100 per cent, effectively solvent free | ASTM D5403 (volatile content of radiation curable materials, cured before heating) |
| Applied coat weight, dry | 20 to 60 g/m² | In-house, gravimetric |
| Adhesion of the cured film | No coating or particle removal at a tape test on the uncut cured film | Tape test to customer or supplier protocol; cross-cut not applied, since ISO 2409 excludes textured coatings |
| Rub resistance, cured film | No transfer or loss of effect after 50 cycles at 2 lb (0.9 kg) load, confirmed at the job's cure and handling conditions | ASTM D5264 |
| Coefficient of friction | Assessed on the job, as the glitter surface is not continuous | ASTM D1894 |
Typical values, not a specification. Values for each batch are given on its Certificate of Analysis.
5. Application
| Parameter | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Application method | Screen printing unit with an open mesh, flat bed or rotary |
| Preparation | Stir before use so the particles are evenly distributed |
| Dilution | Supplied ready for use; not diluted |
| Applied coat weight, dry | 20 to 60 g/m² |
| Cure | UV cured with enough energy to anchor the particles through the full depth of the film; cure confirmed on the job |
| Downstream handling | Rub and scuff checked in the trial under the intended converting and handling conditions |
Process. Screen printing unit with an open mesh, flat bed or rotary, UV cured
6. Storage and handling
Store in the original closed containers in a cool, dry place, protected from daylight, UV light sources, heat and frost. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.
7. Safety and regulatory information
Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
This Technical Data Sheet is published for on-screen reference. The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
