Arcvista GT 610 Fine Glitter Coating
A UV coating carrying fine reflective particles that give a discrete sparkle across a printed or plain field, applied from a low line count, high volume anilox on a standard coating unit. Particle size is held well below the cell opening, so the coating passes through the anilox and chamber without settling or blocking cells.

1. Product description
A UV coating carrying fine reflective particles that give a discrete sparkle across a printed or plain field, applied from a low line count, high volume anilox on a standard coating unit. Particle size is held well below the cell opening so the coating passes through the anilox and the chamber without settling or blocking cells, which is what separates it from the coarse grade. As with the metallics, the sparkle reads far more strongly on a smooth substrate than on a rough recycled surface.
2. Features
- Discrete sparkle from fine reflective particles
- Particle size held well below the anilox cell opening
- Runs on a standard coating unit with a suitable chamber
- Sparkle reads more strongly on smooth substrates than on rough recycled surfaces
3. Recommended uses
Sparkle finishes on folding cartons, labels, coated papers and gloss laminated film, over print or over plain areas of the design.
Substrates. Coated folding boxboard, coated papers, labelstock and gloss laminated film
4. Typical properties
| Property | Typical value | Method |
|---|---|---|
| Technology | UV curing coating with fine reflective particles, effectively solvent free | Formulation |
| Appearance | Liquid carrying fine reflective particles | Visual |
| Viscosity at 23 °C | 250 to 1,200 mPa·s | ISO 2884-1 (cone and plate) |
| Density at 20 °C | 1.00 to 1.25 g/cm³ | ISO 2811-1 |
| Non-volatile matter | 96 to 100 per cent, effectively solvent free | ASTM D5403 (volatile content of radiation curable materials, cured before heating) |
| Applied coat weight, dry | 4 to 8 g/m² | In-house, gravimetric |
| Adhesion of the cured film | No coating removal at a tape test on the uncut cured film; on film, laminate or rigid sheet, 4B to 5B by cross-cut and tape, or classification 0 to 1 by cross-cut | Tape test to customer or supplier protocol on board and paper; ASTM D3359 Method B and ISO 2409 (cross-cut) on film, laminate or rigid sheet |
| Rub resistance, cured film | No transfer or loss of effect after 50 cycles at 2 lb (0.9 kg) load | ASTM D5264 |
| Coefficient of friction | Assessed on the job, as the glitter surface is not continuous | ASTM D1894 |
Typical values, not a specification. Values for each batch are given on its Certificate of Analysis.
5. Application
| Parameter | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Application method | Coating unit or flexo with a low line count, high volume anilox and a suitable chamber |
| Preparation | Stir before use and keep the coating circulating so the particles stay evenly suspended |
| Dilution | Supplied ready for use; not diluted |
| Applied coat weight, dry | 4 to 8 g/m² |
| Substrate | Smooth surfaces give a stronger sparkle than rough recycled stock; effect confirmed on the production substrate |
| Cure | UV cured in line; cure confirmed on the job |
Process. Coating unit or flexo with a low line count, high volume anilox and a suitable chamber, UV cured
6. Storage and handling
Store in the original closed containers in a cool, dry place, protected from daylight, UV light sources, heat and frost. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.
7. Safety and regulatory information
Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
This Technical Data Sheet is published for on-screen reference. The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
