1. Product description

A matched system for crowns and twist-off lug caps, comprising the external decorative build and the internal lacquer that sits beneath the sealing compound. The internal film is specified for the pack contents and for the pasteurisation cycle with torque held on the closure, and the external film is specified for the stamping, fluting and lug forming that follow cure. It is the lower deformation case in the Arccan CL range, because the shell geometry is pressed before capping and the capping head only crimps the skirt or engages the formed lugs.

2. Features

  • Matched external decorative build and internal lacquer
  • Internal film specified for the pack and the pasteurisation cycle with torque held
  • External film takes stamping, fluting and lug forming after cure
  • Lower deformation case in the Arccan CL range, with the shell pressed before capping

3. Recommended uses

Crowns and twist-off lug caps made from tinplate and tin-free steel closure stock, for packs pasteurised after capping.

Substrates. Tinplate and tin-free steel closure stock in sheet.

5. Application

ParameterGuidance
Application methodRoller coater on sheet, internal and external coats.
Surface preparationClean, dry tinplate or tin-free steel closure stock as supplied.
DilutionSupplied at application viscosity for the route agreed. Adjust only with the diluent and within the limit stated by Arctic for the grade supplied, and recheck viscosity after any addition.
Applied film weightTypically 4 to 8 g/m2 dry film per coat.
Cure schedule10 to 12 min at 190 to 205 degrees C peak metal temperature in a wicket oven for each coat.
Next stepStamping, fluting and lug forming on cured film, then the sealing compound is lined into the formed shell and dried. Assess on the finished closure after capping and after the process cycle.

Process. Roller coated on sheet, typically 4 to 8 g/m2 dry film per coat, stoved 10 to 12 min at 190 to 205 degrees C peak metal temperature in a wicket oven. Stamping, fluting and lug forming follow cure, and the sealing compound is then lined into the formed shell and dried. Assessment is on the finished closure after capping and after the process cycle.

6. Storage and handling

Store in the original closed containers in a cool, dry, covered area away from heat sources and direct sunlight, protect waterborne grades from frost, and mix to a uniform condition before use. Shelf life is stated on the label and the Certificate of Analysis, and handling guidance is given in the Safety Data Sheet, issued on request. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.

7. Safety and regulatory information

Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
