1. Product description

A water-based varnish for cut-and-stack wet-glue labels applied to glass and to tinplate cans with water-based adhesive. It protects the print through stacking, magazine feed and glue pallet contact, and is formulated to keep the reverse of the sheet glueable so that adhesive transfer is not disturbed. It is the single-trip grade of the subfamily, intended for containers that are not returned for washing.

2. Features

  • Protects the print through stacking, magazine feed and glue pallet contact
  • Keeps the reverse of the sheet glueable so adhesive transfer is not disturbed
  • Runs in line by flexo or gravure, and in offset press coater units
  • Single-trip grade for containers that are not returned for washing

3. Recommended uses

Wet-glue labels for single-trip glass bottles and jars and for tinplate cans labelled with water-based adhesive, printed on wet-strength, metallised or machine-glazed label paper.

Substrates. Wet-strength label paper, metallised label paper, machine-glazed paper

5. Application

ParameterGuidance
Application methodFlexo or gravure in line, or an offset press coater unit
Surface preparationApply to the printed face only, over dry ink; keep the reverse of the sheet free of varnish
DilutionSupplied ready for use; adjust only with small additions of water where needed
Applied dry coat weight1.0 to 2.0 g/m²
DryingHot air; dry fully before sheeting or cut-and-stack conversion
Next stepSheet or cut and stack for magazine feed; confirm glue pick-up on the customer's labeller and adhesive

Process. Flexo or gravure in line, and offset press coater units; hot air drying, sheeted or cut-and-stack conversion

6. Storage and handling

Store in the original closed container at 5 to 30 °C, protected from frost and direct sunlight, and stir gently before use. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.

7. Safety and regulatory information

Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
