Arcterra DT 410 Direct-to-Metal Single Coat Finish
A two-pack epoxy direct-to-metal finish that combines adhesion to cleaned steel, anti-corrosive pigmentation and final colour in one application. It gives a short route through the paint bay for secondary parts in milder or partly shaded exposure.

1. Product description
A two-pack epoxy direct-to-metal finish that combines adhesion to cleaned steel, anti-corrosive pigmentation and final colour in one application, for shops that cannot run a separate primer stage or that need a short route through the paint bay. It is offered in the topcoat colour range so brackets, guards and add-on parts match the machine they go on, with the qualification that an epoxy binder chalks in strong sunlight and loses gloss before the aliphatic grades do. One coat also carries less total film than a primer and topcoat build and therefore protects less, so it is specified for secondary parts and milder or partly shaded exposure rather than as a substitute for the full system on the main structure.
2. Features
- Adhesion, anti-corrosive pigmentation and colour in one coat
- Applied at 60 to 80 µm dry in a single application
- Offered in the Arcterra topcoat colour range
- Ambient cure at 20 to 25 °C
3. Recommended uses
Brackets, guards, add-on parts and secondary fabrications for agricultural, construction and earthmoving machines, in shops without a separate primer stage. Not a substitute for the full primer and topcoat system on the main structure, and the epoxy binder chalks and loses gloss in strong sunlight sooner than the aliphatic grades.
Substrates. Degreased and mechanically abraded steel, blast cleaned steel where available, and sound existing coatings after adhesion testing.
4. Typical properties
| Property | Typical value | Method |
|---|---|---|
| Technology | Solvent-borne two-pack epoxy direct-to-metal finish with anti-corrosive pigment | Formulation |
| Colour | Arcterra topcoat colour range, matched to the machine | ISO 3668 visual comparison |
| Dry film thickness | 60 to 80 µm in one application | ISO 2808 |
| Pot life of mixed material at 25 °C | Typically 2 to 6 h, shortening sharply as temperature rises | ISO 9514 |
| Drying and cure | Through-dry in 16 to 24 h at 20 to 25 °C, full properties in 5 to 7 days | ISO 9117-1 for through-dry; full properties to customer or supplier protocol |
| Cross-cut adhesion | Class 0 to 1 on degreased and abraded or blast cleaned steel | ISO 2409 |
| Exterior exposure | Epoxy binder chalks and loses gloss in strong sunlight before the aliphatic grades | ISO 16474-2 for exposure, ISO 4628-6 for chalking |
| Multi-impact stone chip resistance | A higher, that is poorer, characteristic value expected than for a primer, surfacer and topcoat build; a lower value is the better result | ISO 20567-1 |
Typical values, not a specification. Values for each batch are given on its Certificate of Analysis.
5. Application
| Parameter | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Method | Conventional air, HVLP or airless spray in one application; substrate held at least 3 °C above dew point through application and flash-off |
| Surface preparation | Degreased and mechanically abraded steel, blast cleaned steel where available, or sound existing coatings after adhesion testing. Degreasing and abrasion are required, as there is no primer beneath to recover a poorly prepared surface. |
| Mixing and thinning | Base and hardener mixed in the ratio stated on the label and stirred mechanically before use. Thin only where needed and only with the thinner specified by Arctic for the grade. |
| Applied film | 60 to 80 µm dry |
| Cure | Ambient at 20 to 25 °C, through-dry in 16 to 24 h and full properties in 5 to 7 days |
| Safety | Handling and personal protection as set out in the Safety Data Sheet, issued by Arctic on request. |
Process. Conventional air, HVLP or airless spray at 60 to 80 µm dry in one application. Ambient cure at 20 to 25 °C. Degreasing and abrasion are not optional, because the grade has no primer beneath it to recover a poorly prepared surface.
6. Storage and handling
Store base and hardener in their original, tightly closed containers in a cool, dry, covered store away from direct heat and sunlight, within the temperature range on the label, and keep hardener containers sealed against moisture. Shelf life is stated on the label and the Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.
7. Safety and regulatory information
Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
This Technical Data Sheet is published for on-screen reference. The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
