Arcveil TE 110 Tamper-Evident Void Coating
A coating for self-adhesive label constructions that reveals a message or leaves a patterned residue on the substrate when the label is lifted, so that removal and reapplication remain visible. The effect is one of differential release, so the coating, facestock, adhesive, liner and application surface are qualified together.

1. Product description
A coating for label constructions that reveals a message or leaves a patterned residue on the substrate when the label is lifted, so that removal and reapplication remain visible. The effect is one of differential release across the construction, so the coating, the facestock, the adhesive and the application surface are qualified together rather than the coating on its own. It is the only grade in the range whose performance is set by the laminate around it as much as by the film itself, and it makes removal visible after the event rather than preventing it.
2. Features
- Reveals a message or leaves a patterned residue when the label is lifted
- Void pattern imaged in the plate or screen
- Water-based or ultraviolet-curing, by flexo or rotary screen
- Qualified as part of the full label construction rather than as a coating on its own
- Makes removal visible after the event; it does not prevent removal
3. Recommended uses
Tamper-evident labels and seals on carton board, glass, rigid PP and PET packs for consumer goods and pharmaceuticals. Performance is confirmed on the actual application surface at both temperature extremes of the end use.
Substrates. Self-adhesive label constructions on paper and on PE, PP and PET facestock, applied to the substrates the label will be used on, including carton board, glass, rigid PP and PET. The release and adhesive system is stated at enquiry.
4. Typical properties
| Property | Typical value | Method |
|---|---|---|
| Technology | Water-based or ultraviolet-curing release coating for void label constructions | Formulation |
| Appearance | Liquid coating printed as the void pattern; the message or pattern appears when the label is lifted | Visual |
| Supply viscosity, water-based flexo grade | 30 to 40 s, 4 mm flow cup at 23 degrees C | ISO 2431 |
| Supply viscosity, screen and ultraviolet-curing grades | 300 to 2,500 mPa.s at 25 degrees C, cone and plate | ISO 2884-1 |
| pH, water-based grades | 7.5 to 9.5 | ASTM E70 |
| Void release | Legible message or patterned residue left on the application surface when the label is lifted after the real dwell time | Lift test of trial labels from the actual application surface, in-house |
| Temperature range of the effect | Confirmed at both temperature extremes of the end use | Lift test at the end-use temperature extremes, customer or supplier protocol |
| Evidence of reapplication | Removal and reapplication remain visible after the label is re-laid | Lift and re-lay of trial labels, in-house |
| Construction | Qualified with the stated facestock, adhesive, liner and application surface | Customer or supplier protocol |
Typical values, not a specification. Values for each batch are given on its Certificate of Analysis.
5. Application
| Parameter | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Method | Flexo or rotary screen, water-based or ultraviolet-curing, with the void pattern imaged in the plate or screen |
| Construction | Facestock (paper, PE, PP or PET), adhesive, release liner and application surface stated at enquiry and qualified together |
| Dilution | Supplied ready for use; water-based grades adjusted with water only to the press viscosity set on the trial; ultraviolet-curing grades are not diluted |
| Applied coat weight | 1.0 to 4.0 g/m2 dry, giving a dry film thickness of 1 to 4 micrometres (ISO 2808) |
| Drying or cure | Hot-air drying or ultraviolet cure in-line, with conditions set on the press trial |
| Qualification | Trial labels lifted from the actual application surface after the real dwell time, at both temperature extremes of the end use |
Process. Flexo or rotary screen, water-based or ultraviolet-curing, with the void pattern imaged in the plate or screen. Performance is confirmed by lifting trial labels from the actual application surface, at both temperature extremes of the end use and at the real dwell times.
6. Storage and handling
Store in the original closed container at moderate temperature, with water-based grades protected from frost and ultraviolet-curing grades protected from light; shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis. Handling guidance is given in the Safety Data Sheet, issued on request. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.
7. Safety and regulatory information
Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
This Technical Data Sheet is published for on-screen reference. The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
