Arcfibre CB 440 High-Slip-Control Stacking Coating

A water-based postprint coating set to a narrower and higher friction window than CB 410, for heavy cases, tall pallet stacks and export loads where slide between layers is the failure mode. Its higher film build also raises scuff resistance on the printed face.

1. Product description

A postprint coating set for a narrower and higher friction window than CB 410, for heavy cases, tall pallet stacks and export loads where slide between layers is the failure mode. It carries a higher film build, which also raises scuff resistance on the printed face. Friction is a property of the pair of surfaces in contact, not of the coating alone, so the value is confirmed board face against board back to TAPPI T815 on the actual case construction and at the actual stack height.

2. Features

  • Narrower, higher coefficient of friction window than CB 410
  • For heavy cases, tall pallet stacks and export loads
  • Higher film build with increased scuff resistance
  • Friction confirmed on the actual case construction and stack height

3. Recommended uses

Stacking coating for heavy-duty single, double and triple wall corrugated cases with kraft and test liner facings, palletised for distribution or export.

Substrates. Heavy-duty single, double and triple wall corrugated board, kraft and test liner facings

5. Application

ParameterGuidance
Application methodFlexo postprint on a corrugated case press at higher anilox volume and low impression pressure
Surface preparationFinished board, dry and flat; friction is a property of the pair of surfaces in contact, so the board face and back are both part of the specification
DilutionSupplied ready for use; adjust viscosity with 0 to 3 per cent water by weight and recheck friction after any change
Applied dry coat weight2.5 to 5 g per square metre, by grammage difference to ISO 536
DryingHot air on the case press, sized for the higher film build; cases dry before stacking
Next stepDie cutting, folding and gluing; confirm friction board face against board back to TAPPI T815 at the actual stack height before release
Handling and safetyRefer to the Safety Data Sheet, issued by Arctic on request.

Process. Flexo postprint on a corrugated case press, higher anilox volume, low impression pressure, hot air drying

6. Storage and handling

Store in the original closed container at 5 to 30 degrees C, protected from frost and direct heat, and stir gently before use. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.

7. Safety and regulatory information

Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.

The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
