1. Product description

A water-based blister-board coating that bonds printed paperboard to a thermoformed PVC or virgin PET blister under heat and pressure. It is the standard bond grade of the subfamily, set for conventional platen sealing at moderate dwell and jaw temperature. Board grammage, moisture content and print coverage under the seal area all change the bond, and the target is consistent fibre tear on peel, so the window is established on the customer sealing machine.

2. Features

  • Bonds printed board to thermoformed PVC and virgin PET
  • Set for conventional platen heat sealing
  • Target of consistent fibre tear on peel across the seal area
  • Adhesive seal coating, not a barrier

3. Recommended uses

Blister cards for retail packs on folding boxboard and solid bleached board, sealed to thermoformed PVC or virgin PET blisters on platen heat-seal machines.

Substrates. Folding boxboard and solid bleached board for blister cards, sealing to thermoformed PVC and virgin PET blisters

5. Application

ParameterGuidance
Application methodFlexo, gravure or offset coater applied over the printed card
Surface preparationBoard grammage, moisture content and print coverage under the seal area all change the bond; hold them constant between trial and production
DilutionSupplied ready for use; adjust viscosity with 0 to 5 per cent water by weight
Applied dry coat weight5 to 9 g per square metre, by grammage difference to ISO 536, in one or two passes; the upper end of the window normally needs a second coating unit or pass on a sheet-fed coater
DryingHot air; cards fully dry and cooled to room temperature before stacking, as a warm heat-seal film blocks in the pile
Next stepDie cutting, then sealing to the blister on a platen heat-seal machine, with fibre tear on peel checked at start-up
Handling and safetyRefer to the Safety Data Sheet, issued by Arctic on request.

Process. Flexo, gravure or offset coater applied, hot air drying, sealed on a platen heat-seal blister machine

6. Storage and handling

Store in the original closed container at 5 to 30 degrees C, protected from frost and direct heat, and stir gently before use. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.

7. Safety and regulatory information

Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
