Arcfibre CB 410 Postprint Board Coating with Defined Slip

A water-based postprint coating for finished corrugated board, formulated to a defined mid-range coefficient of friction so that stacks hold on a pallet and cases still feed on a conveyor. It gives protection and a controlled surface without the low-friction face that a gloss overprint varnish leaves on a case.

1. Product description

A water-based coating printed directly on finished corrugated board, formulated to a defined coefficient of friction so that stacks hold on a pallet and cases still feed reliably down a conveyor. It is the mid-slip grade of the subfamily, giving protection and a controlled surface without the slippery, low-friction face that a gloss overprint varnish leaves on a case. Friction is measured to ASTM D1894 coating against coating and to TAPPI T815 board face against board back. Postprint runs on a formed, fluted surface at low pressure, so coverage and gloss are always below what the same coating gives in preprint.

2. Features

  • Defined mid-slip coefficient of friction
  • Stack hold on the pallet with reliable conveyor feed
  • Runs at low impression pressure on corrugated case presses
  • Friction confirmed board face against board back to TAPPI T815

3. Recommended uses

Protective postprint coating on single and double wall corrugated cases with kraft, test or white top liner facings, for palletised distribution and conveyor handling.

Substrates. Finished single and double wall corrugated board, kraft and test liner facings, white top liner

5. Application

ParameterGuidance
Application methodFlexo postprint on a corrugated case press, anilox applied, at low impression pressure to avoid crushing the flutes
Surface preparationFinished board, dry and flat; the fluted structure causes washboarding, so coverage and gloss are below the same coating in preprint
DilutionSupplied ready for use; adjust viscosity with 0 to 5 per cent water by weight and recheck friction after any change
Applied dry coat weight1.5 to 3 g per square metre, by grammage difference to ISO 536
DryingHot air on the case press; cases dry before stacking
Next stepDie cutting, folding and gluing; confirm friction board face against board back at the actual stack height before palletising
Handling and safetyRefer to the Safety Data Sheet, issued by Arctic on request.

Process. Flexo postprint on a corrugated case press, low impression pressure, anilox applied, hot air drying

6. Storage and handling

Store in the original closed container at 5 to 30 degrees C, protected from frost and direct heat, and stir gently before use. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.

7. Safety and regulatory information

Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
