Arcfibre CP 340 Preprint High-Holdout Scuff-Resistant Coating

A higher film build flexo preprint coating for liners that will be handled hard, with stronger holdout on absorbent recycled liner and higher dry rub resistance than CP 310. It needs more drying capacity than CP 310, and its heavier film is more exposed to hot plate contact at the double backer.

1. Product description

A higher film build preprint coating for liners that will be handled hard, with stronger holdout on absorbent recycled liner and higher dry rub resistance measured to ASTM D5264. It is the grade to specify where the case is scuffed in transit, where the graphic is heavily inked, or where the liner is open enough that CP 310 loses gloss into the sheet. It demands more drying capacity than CP 310, and a heavier film is more exposed to hot plate contact at the double backer, so line speed, dryer loading and hot plate temperature should be confirmed on trial.

2. Features

  • Higher dry rub resistance to ASTM D5264 for cases scuffed in transit
  • Holdout on open, absorbent recycled and test liner
  • Suited to heavily inked graphics
  • Line speed, dryer loading and hot plate temperature confirmed on trial

3. Recommended uses

Preprint coating for corrugated cases that are scuffed in transit, carry heavy ink coverage or use open recycled liner on which CP 310 loses gloss into the sheet.

Substrates. Recycled and test liner, kraft liner, white top liner, lower-grammage absorbent liners

5. Application

ParameterGuidance
Application methodWide-web flexo press at higher anilox volume
Surface preparationCoat the printed face only and keep the coating off the glue side, as starch adhesive bonds to bare fibre
DilutionSupplied ready for use; dilution reduces holdout, so adjust with 0 to 3 per cent water by weight
Applied dry coat weight3 to 5 g per square metre, by grammage difference to ISO 536
DryingExtended hot air and IR drying; the film must be fully dry before rewind
Next stepReel combined on the corrugator at the double backer; confirm line speed, dryer loading and hot plate temperature on trial
Handling and safetyRefer to the Safety Data Sheet, issued by Arctic on request.

Process. Wide-web flexo press at higher anilox volume, extended hot air and IR drying, the reel then combined on a corrugator

6. Storage and handling

Store in the original closed container at 5 to 30 degrees C, protected from frost and direct heat, and stir gently before use. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.

7. Safety and regulatory information

Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.

The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
