Arcfibre CP 310 Preprint Flexo Gloss Coating

A water-based flexo gloss coating for corrugated liner preprint, applied on a wide-web press before the liner is combined on the corrugator. It dries fast at web speed and stays flexible and free of blocking and pick-off against the hot plates and holddown belt at the double backer.

1. Product description

A water-based flexo coating for liner preprint, applied on a wide-web press before the liner is combined on the corrugator. It is formulated to dry fast at web speed and to stay flexible and free of blocking and pick-off at the double backer, where the printed liner is pressed onto the glued flute tips and carried across the hot plates with the coated face in contact with them. It is the standard gloss and holdout grade of the subfamily, used where the finished case needs a printed, coated liner of a quality that postprint cannot reach.

2. Features

  • Fast drying at wide-web press speed
  • Remains flexible through the double backer and hot plate section
  • Resists blocking and pick-off against hot plates and holddown belt
  • Standard gloss and holdout grade of the preprint subfamily

3. Recommended uses

Gloss and protective coating over preprinted liner for corrugated cases where the printed face needs a quality that postprint cannot reach. Used on coated and uncoated kraft, white top, test and recycled liner.

Substrates. Coated and uncoated kraft liner, white top liner, test liner, recycled liner for corrugating

5. Application

ParameterGuidance
Application methodWide-web central impression or stack flexo press, anilox applied
Surface preparationCoat the printed face only and keep the coating off the glue side, as starch adhesive bonds to bare fibre
DilutionSupplied ready for use; adjust press viscosity with 0 to 5 per cent water by weight
Applied dry coat weight1.5 to 3 g per square metre, by grammage difference to ISO 536
DryingHot air and IR on the press, fully dry before rewind; line speed is set by web tension, anilox volume, dryer capacity and liner absorbency
Next stepReel combined on the corrugator at the double backer; confirm hot plate temperature, belt pressure and combining speed on trial
Handling and safetyRefer to the Safety Data Sheet, issued by Arctic on request.

Process. Wide-web central impression or stack flexo press, anilox applied, hot air and IR drying, the reel then combined on a corrugator

6. Storage and handling

Store in the original closed container at 5 to 30 degrees C, protected from frost and direct heat, and stir gently before use. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.

7. Safety and regulatory information

Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
