Arcmetal PR 210 Universal Adhesion Primer
A fast air-drying, low build one-pack primer that keys to bare steel, zinc coated steel and aluminium from the same tin, for job shops priming mixed-substrate batches. It is applied at 25 to 35 microns dry, is recoatable within the hour and is chosen for adhesion and process speed rather than corrosion life.

1. Product description
A fast air-drying, low build one-pack primer for mixed substrate job work, applied at 25 to 35 microns dry and recoatable within the hour. It is the grade a shop reaches for when the batch on the rack is part bare steel, part galvanised bracket and part aluminium extrusion, and a single primer has to key to all three. It buys adhesion and process speed rather than corrosion life, so parts going into damp, coastal or wash-down service are primed with PR 340 instead.
2. Features
- One primer for bare steel, hot-dip and electro-zinc coated steel, aluminium and brass on the same rack
- Low build of 25 to 35 microns dry per coat
- Surface dry in 20 to 30 minutes and recoatable from 45 minutes at 30 degrees C
- Force dries in 20 minutes at 60 degrees C after a 10 minute flash-off
- Accepts alkyd, single-pack and two-component topcoats within the stated recoat window
3. Recommended uses
Priming tube, sheet, brackets, extrusions and fasteners in mixed-substrate job work for interior and sheltered service, ahead of an Arcmetal AL, 2K 430 or WB 270 topcoat. Parts going into damp, coastal or wash-down service are primed with Arcmetal PR 340 instead.
Substrates. Bare mild steel prepared to ISO 8501-1 St 2 or better, hot-dip and electro-zinc coated steel, aluminium and its alloys, brass and previously coated sound films after abrading.

5. Application
| Parameter | Guidance |
|---|---|
| Application method | Conventional or HVLP spray; brush and roller for touch-in. |
| Surface preparation | Degrease first, then clean mechanically. Mild steel to ISO 8501-1 St 2 or better; hot-dip and electro-zinc coated steel, aluminium, brass and sound existing coatings degreased and abraded. Apply with the substrate at least 3 degrees C above the dew point. |
| Thinning | Thin with the thinner recommended by Arctic for the grade to 20 to 25 s in a 4 mm flow cup at 23 degrees C (ISO 2431) for conventional and HVLP spray. For brush and roller touch-in, add only the thinner needed for flow. |
| Film build | 25 to 35 microns dry per coat; check wet film with a comb gauge to ISO 2808 during application. |
| Drying schedule | Air dry: surface dry in 20 to 30 minutes at 30 degrees C. Force dry: 10 minute flash-off at shop temperature, then 20 minutes at 60 degrees C. |
| Overcoating | Recoatable from 45 minutes at 30 degrees C with Arcmetal AL, 2K 430 or WB 270 topcoats, within the recoat window stated for the system. |
Process. Conventional or HVLP spray, brush and roller for touch-in; air dry, surface dry in 20 to 30 minutes at 30 degrees C, recoatable from 45 minutes, or force dry 20 minutes at 60 degrees C after a 10 minute flash-off at shop temperature.
6. Storage and handling
Store in the original containers, tightly closed, in a cool, dry, covered store away from heat and direct sun, and stir thoroughly before use to redisperse any settlement. Shelf life is stated on the label and Certificate of Analysis. Handle and use the product in line with its Safety Data Sheet.
7. Safety and regulatory information
Read the Safety Data Sheet before use. Safety Data Sheets and regulatory declarations are issued by our technical centre against the product and batch supplied, so they are sent on request rather than published. Request a Safety Data Sheet or declaration.
This Technical Data Sheet is published for on-screen reference. The information is given in good faith from laboratory and application experience and describes typical values; it is not a specification and does not replace a trial on your own substrate and line.
